About Us
Trinity Episcopal Church is a vibrant, small-town parish located in Jeffers/Ennis, Montana. The 124-year-old wooden building stands in simplistic charm where scenic beauty abounds with the iconic Madison River flowing nearby and the snow capped peaks of the Madison Range towering in the east.
We worship weekly, Sunday mornings at 11:00 a.m. Trinity shares its rector with neighboring St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Virginia City. Our church is known for its welcoming spirit, active congregation and commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our worship services are guided by the Book of Common Prayer and centralize the Eucharist, which is celebrated every Sunday (when possible). We worship with both traditional and contemporary music each service and meet after each service for food and fellowship.
We use a shared leadership model creating opportunities for lots of participation. Lay leaders assist clergy with the services and guide policy and governance as members of the Vestry. We have church volunteers lead the music, read the scriptures, mow the lawn, serve on committees and showcase their favorite recipes at our fellowship hours.
Our church was built in 1902, with several upgrades over the decades. Our sanctuary features stunning stained glass windows and traditional charm. There’s also a parish hall for community gatherings, full kitchen and restrooms.
Outside there’s a concrete ramp for handicap access, play area for kids, and covered picnic area for area residents.

History
Church History
Trinity Church founded in 1874. The current church building was built in 1902 and completely renovated in 2014, making the entire facility handicap accessible.
Inside the church entrance is a famed cross from St. Paul’s Cathedral in New York City. President George Washington worshiped there beneath this very cross!
Community and Events
Trinity’s garden is not only a place where vegetables grow and flowers bloom but where community is cultivated. Our gardeners are multigenerational and working side by side they share seeds and seeds of wisdom. Each spring, new friendships are developed and old ones are renewed. Some of the gardeners grow vegetables to support the Madison Valley Food Bank.
The garden also serves as a backdrop for events. Our popular Music in the Garden Series is joyful and toe tapping fun as we listen to local musicians perform as we sit on bales of hay, admire God’s creation in the bounty that is growing, the sandhill cranes gleaning and the sun setting on the peaks of the Madison Range.
The Ennis Art Association hosts an event called Blooms and Brushes and the community garden has been a stop on this annual tour. A plein air artist enjoys the inspiration of our setting as visitors admire the art and the garden.
The Madison Valley Piecemakers is also a partner in the event and has displayed antique quilts in our sanctuary.
The acoustics in our old church are outstanding and we get to experience the musical notes rising heavenward during the Baroque Montana Concerts that have become a cultural experience made accessible for all. The musicians are excited to play in our historic church and often are playing historic instruments. It is a match made in heaven.
In Autumn as the harvest comes upon us, the church is decorated in pumpkins. A pumpkin patch is grown to provide for the school, the food bank and the congregation. You can be certain we will be having pumpkin bread and pumpkin pies during fellowship hour.
Our scenic grounds feature a kid’s playground and covered picnic area. Wildlife, especially whitetail deer and moose, are commonly spotted.
Trinity is a preferred location for hosting weddings and funerals, a tradition that dates back many decades.
Our Prayer Shawl Ministry began as an outreach service to offer comfort to those experiencing distress with their physical, mental, or emotional health. So often when we hear of a distressed individual, we want to help and offer support, but don't have the words at hand to express our concerns. The gift of a blessed prayer shawl is a tangible expression of our desire to comfort.
